Helping the Khvien village school started for us in such a small way several years ago. We came as tourists to visit the famed Angkor Wat and asked our guide, Lem Phath, to show us a village school. He brought us to Khvein and so began a connection that has deepened as the years have passed so that we are no longer tourists but friends.

During our time with them, we have seen many of the village children grow and been infected by their broad grins.

We have also seen a lot of progress made in the school which is led by the indefatigable Mr Hon. We greatly value our warm relationship with him and his teaching staff.

This is a very poor village that needs so much help. We believe that education is the best investment we can give for the longer term welfare of the village. Their future is in their children.

When we first came we felt like “The Good Samaritan” of Jesus’ parable, the foreigner who stopped to give aid to the man who had been beaten by robbers. We too are the foreigners coming to give aid. We came upon the village along the road and found a population beaten as it were by robbers. We stopped to help, we could do nothing less.

We hope you enjoy the reports and pictures in this site and that you too will feel drawn to these wonderful people.

Martin and Margaret

Thank you for visiting this site.
