From a friend in Phnom Penh comes this eye-witness report of events last Saturday morning:<\/p>\n
Some of us were out jogging before dawn near the centre of the city, only to run into hundreds of men marching in formation, with large perspex shields, heading towards a slum community located near the city centre. They were acting on behalf of a company that had previously announced it was now taking this “administrative measure” against those land holders who were failing to accept their “generous” offer. These approximately 150 families had land title, but were not accepting the offer to relocate to an area far outside the city. We heard later that the surrounding area had been cordoned off since 2am to avoid embarrassment of foreign onlookers, as the well protected bulldozers moved in to remove anything that stood in their way.
