{"id":43,"date":"2006-10-22T11:36:51","date_gmt":"2006-10-22T03:36:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rice4life.sg\/bulletin\/?p=43"},"modified":"2008-12-23T18:21:54","modified_gmt":"2008-12-23T10:21:54","slug":"funding-for-khvein-primary-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rice4life.sg\/bulletin\/news-updates\/funding-for-khvein-primary-school\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding for Khvien Primary School"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>As we have written before, the children of Khvien village receive free public education; the national government in Phnom Penh provides the following funds in support of the school:<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Salaries<\/strong>: each teacher receives a salary of US$30\u00a0per month (an increase of US$5 per month this year).<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div><strong>Administration:<\/strong> Mr Hon receives a sum of money from which he must cover maintenance, repairs, and supplies, etc. This is calculated at 7,000 Riel per student\/per year. On the current enrolment of 354 children, Mr Hon\u00a0can expect to receive around US$600 for the whole year&#8217;s costs!!!<\/div>\n<div>\u00a0<\/div>\n<div>We have identified a couple of projects that would be impossible for Mr Hon to cover on his existing funding level and propose inviting support so that we can complete two large projects for the school.
