Rosalette was away for the week and we decided not to hold up the delivery any longer. We had already delayed for a few days to get the signs ready.

Robbie mentioned that one aim of the program is to root out corruption in the school. Just so you are aware Rice here in Cambodia is virtually the same thing as money and in many cases Asian Development Bank project for example all workers are paid in rice. They then re-sell that rice in many instances to supplement their income.

So in my experience the Rice program itself can be corrupted very quickly.

With instances of

– Kickbacks to the buyer
– Substitution of the rice for a poorer grade
– Mixing of the rice with cheaper rice
– delivering a lesser amount than that promised (a few kilos short per bag)

and other variants.

We ensure that our delivery of rice is always free from any corruption. We dont allow any of the above practices.

So what you pay for is literally what you get which is why we label the bags with the rice type and we weigh the rice at the point of handover to the end user in front of as many witnesses as possible. Its all just good practice.

We think that you have a great program and I hope that soon we can discuss the steps for the next delivery.

Kind regards

Koosh

From Siem Reap, Kourosh Agassi reports: The School Director said that he was Sok Sabai (Very Happy) with the rice and your continued support.
