{"id":975,"date":"2010-11-18T20:08:27","date_gmt":"2010-11-18T12:08:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.rice4life.sg\/bulletin\/?p=975"},"modified":"2010-11-18T20:09:05","modified_gmt":"2010-11-18T12:09:05","slug":"a-third-school-added-to-the-list-of-schools-being-supported-by-r4l","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.rice4life.sg\/bulletin\/news-updates\/a-third-school-added-to-the-list-of-schools-being-supported-by-r4l\/","title":{"rendered":"A third school added to the list of schools being supported by R4L!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Things are moving fast now with another school being added to those already being supported by Rice4Life.<\/p>\n<p>During\u00a0Martin and Margaret&#8217;s\u00a0April visit, plans were made to extend the R4L model to two more very poor village schools in Siem Reap Province.<\/p>\n<p>Agreements have now been signed so that the village school of Kok Beng is now to receive similar support to Khvien school and the recently added school at Kok Tachan.<\/p>\n<p>The village of Kok Beng has a population of 1,214 in 264 families. the village is near the Bayon Temple and is 17 km from Siem Reap city.<\/p>\n<p>The village relies on local agriculture following methods little changed since anciient times.<\/p>\n<p>After the &#8216;troubles&#8217; in Cambodia, a school was established in a timber building in 1982 and in 2002 a Swiss benefactor built them a brick building for the school, similar to the one at Khvien.<\/p>\n<p>The school has three classrooms from Grade 1\u00a0to Grade 6. There are 236 students with 6 teachers. We are looking forward to building a cooperative and collaborative relationship with school director, Mr Chhoen Chhon.<\/p>\n<p>Pictures of Kok Beng school can be seen in a new photo album.
