Today funds were remitted to Mr Hon for the purchase of items for the new school year commencing September 15th.
Students from grades 4, 5 and 6 will be measured for tailor-made school uniforms; 141 uniforms will be made of good quality cloth sourced from the capital, Phnom Penh. the tailor will travel there to select the cloth and return to Siem Reap where her team will be making them.
We’ve found it advantageous to buy school exercise books, pens and pencils well before the new school year as prices rise at the beginning of school year. So Mr Hon will be buying 350 packs of exercise books, 360 pens and 360 pencils. We can imagine the excitement of the children when a small truck arrives in the village with the supplies!
When the new school year starts we’ll need to make uniforms for the younger grades – at this stage we don’t know how many that will be, but last year we arranged for another 96 uniforms at the beginning of the school year.
